Location

Because wind can be easily dispersed by buildings and trees, the ideal site for a wind turbine is 50 metres or more away from any obstruction. Obviously this rules out many sites.

Planning Permission

Unlike solar PV systems, wind power systems require planning permission prior to installation.

How Much Power Can A Wind Turbine Generate?

Situated in the right location, a 6kWp turbine mounted on an 11 metre mast could generate anywhere between 3,000 and 4,500 kWh per year.

The figures vary substantially because wind speeds vary considerably around the UK.
